Finally, the June selection for WOW Book Club is here! I must first apologise for this month’s selection being a week late, but I have spent this time mulling over this month’s selection as I was struggling to find a book I really wanted to read and share with you all, but alas, that selection has finally landed quite literally on my lap as I stumbled across this book in an airport on my way to Hong Kong!
As the title suggests, this book has a strong connection to the bestselling book (and in my opinion one of the best travel memoirs of all time); Eat Pray Love. If you haven’t already read that book, I would strongly suggest reading it first, or at the very least watching the subsequent film featuring Julia Roberts as the author (Elizabeth Gilbert). You can rent or buy it online here.
But for most of you, I’m sure you have already read the book and are curious to see what this follow up is all about. Hopefully, the cover image will give you some idea, as I feel myself that my life is constantly inspired by the book!
Eat Pray Love (the original) was a huge worldwide phenomenon and continues to inspire women to this day. It is testament to independence and empowerment, two qualities I have found only myself becoming familiar with through solo travel.
And so this book, Eat Pray Love Made Me Do It, shares a handful of women’s stories (understatement – there are nearly fifty real life stories), who read the book and felt inspired to make changes in their own lives.
As someone who finds inspiration in real stories myself, I’m excited to read this with you this month and see how the book, which certainly inspired my own story, has inspired many women around the world.
You can buy the book online here or find it in your local bookstore/library.
